Be the first angler to land all 5 freshwater species and fill your stringer. Each catch has a target count that must be reached before you advance to the next. The game unfolds tide by tide. Every time the draw pile runs out and is reshuffled, a new tide begins. Play continues until a player completes all five catches or the table agrees on a stalemate.
2-4 Players • Ages 8+
Five species, caught in order from lowest to highest. Panfish requires Small Tackle; Sportfish requires Big Tackle (or Tackle Box for either).
| # | Catch | Category | Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bluegill | Panfish | 4 |
| 2 | Crappie | Panfish | 3 |
| 3 | Perch | Sportfish | 2 |
| 4 | Bass | Sportfish | 1 |
| 5 | Muskie | Sportfish | 1 |
Play these against another player to halt their progress. Only one Trouble card may affect a player at a time. The targeted player must overcome the Trouble with the matching Good Fortune or Safe card before continuing.
| Trouble | Effect |
|---|---|
| Nightfall | The sun has set. No more fishing today. |
| Storm | A thunderstorm rolls across the lake. Get off the water! |
| No Fish Here | This spot is dead. Not a bite in sight. |
| Broken Tackle | Your line snapped and your rig is toast. |
| Lose License | The game warden pulled your fishing license. |
Safe cards protect against specific Trouble. They may be played proactively (before Trouble arrives) or reactively. If a Safe card is already face-up and the matching Trouble is played against you, the Trouble has no effect. If the matching Safe card is still in your hand when Trouble is played, you may immediately call “Fish On!” and play the Safe card. The Trouble card is then turned back on the player who played it.
The legendary Golden Hook lets you steal any fish right off another angler's stringer, or snag one from the discard pile. The Wild card may never be drawn from the face-up discard pile, but it is reshuffled into the draw pile at the start of each new tide.
The Help cards are not used during play. Remove them from the deck before dealing. Players may keep a Help card nearby for quick reference.
For fewer than 4 players, remove the following cards before dealing:
| Card | 3 Players Remove | 2 Players Remove |
|---|---|---|
| Bluegill | 5 | 10 |
| Crappie | 4 | 8 |
| Perch | 3 | 6 |
| Bass | 2 | 4 |
| Muskie | 2 | 4 |
| Sunrise | 2 | 4 |
| Clear Skies | 1 | 2 |
| Fish Finder | 1 | 2 |
| Small Tackle | 2 | 4 |
| Big Tackle | 2 | 4 |
| Fishing License | 2 | 4 |
| Total removed | 26 | 52 |
| Deck size | 88 | 62 |
When the draw pile is exhausted, shuffle the entire discard pile (including the Wild card) and place it face-down to form a new draw pile. A new tide has begun. The game continues across as many tides as needed.
The first player to complete all five catches, Bluegill through Muskie, wins the game! If play becomes hopelessly locked, the table may agree to call a stalemate.

A freshwater fishing card game powered by the Cards Wild engine.
Fishings Wild was born from the same game engine that powers the original Cards Wild game — the Cards Wild platform. Set on the shores of a freshwater lake, it trades rifles for rods and trophies for a stringer full of fish.
Players race to land five freshwater species, from Bluegill and Crappie to the legendary Muskie, while battling storms, broken tackle, and rival anglers. The same fast-paced strategy, the same satisfying sabotage, but with a completely different feel.
Every card is an original illustration inspired by the tradition of vintage fishing art. The lake at dawn, the patience of waiting for a bite, and the thrill of a Muskie on the line.
Fishings Wild is part of the Cards Wild family of games, all built on a shared engine designed in Jasper, Colorado. Same rules, different world.
